Straume, the centre of Øygarden
This Straume is the municipal centre of Øygarden, on the island of Litlesotra just west of Bergen, not the Straume by Nordåsvannet in Bergen's Fyllingsdalen. The Sartor Storsenter shopping centre, one of the largest in Western Norway, stands in the middle of it.
Closest to the centre are a flybridge motor yacht at Straume and, on neighbouring Bildøyna, a cabin cruiser. For everything else you need a car: over the bridge near Godvik, to Hetlevik on Askøy, or to one of several Bergen districts as far south as Fana, so look at where each boat is moored before you commit.
Heading south, Raunefjorden stretches roughly 15 km along the east side of Sotra towards Korsfjorden and the open coast. Glesvær on Sotra's south-west tip is about 12 nautical miles from Straume, one of the trips in our Bergen boat guide.
On the way you pass Bjorøyna, where the channel splits into Kobbaleia and Vatlestraumen, on the main southern approach to Bergen.
