Renting a boat in Bergen
Bergen has no single boat-rental harbour. Every listing here is a private owner's boat, kept somewhere in the municipality, some near the centre and others in Fana and at Hjellestad in the south, at Søreide and Straume, in Indre Arna to the east and on Askøy across Byfjorden. The range runs from little runabouts to cabin cruisers, and a handful of owners list sailboats or will skipper themselves.
Right in the centre, Vågen is the harbour in front of Bryggen, the Hanseatic wharf listed by UNESCO as World Heritage in 1979. Bergen Havn runs guest berths here for about 100 leisure boats, with power at Bryggen, Torgutstikkeren and Blomstertorget, fresh water at Torgutstikkeren and Bryggen, and diesel at Munkebryggen. Harbour dues are normally paid in the GoMarina app, but a boat used for hire is invoiced through Bergen's port control instead, so ask the owner who pays.
Speed limits apply close to the centre: 5 knots in Vågen, 8 knots off Sandviken and in Puddefjorden.
