Fyllingsdalen: getting on the water
Fyllingsdalen is a Bergen borough of about 30,000 people, and most of it lies inland. Its shoreline is in the south-west. There, Straume is surrounded by water on three sides, with Grimstadfjorden to the west, Nordåsvannet to the south-east and Sælevatnet to the north-east, and Bønes lines Nordåsvannet's western side.
The listings come from private owners around the city rather than from the valley itself: Straume and Søreide on the fjord side, Fana and Hjellestad to the south, Bildøyna to the west and several in central Bergen. Most are daycruisers, bowriders and cabin cruisers, with some sailboats.
Leaving Straume westwards, you pass through Knappensundet and Dolviken. This stretch, from Straume bridge to the line between Stamneset and Knappen, is a 5-knot zone under Bergen's speed regulation, so allow a few extra minutes.
Beyond it lies Grimstadfjorden, 5.5 km long from its mouth to Loddefjord, and then Raunefjorden, about 15 km from Korsfjorden in the south to Byfjorden and Hjeltefjorden in the north, with Sotra on its far side. Our guide to boat trips around Bergen suggests where to go from there.
