Stockholm's rental boats are split between two different waters, and which side yours is on shapes the day. Some lie on Lake Mälaren, west of the centre: at Ängby in Bromma, at Slagsta Marina and in the Karlberg Canal by Kungsholmen. Others are on the Baltic side, in Saltsjöbaden, Nacka, Tyresö and Täby, or in the city near Stureplan. Each listing gives its pick-up point.

Crossing between the two waters in town means Hammarbyslussen by Skansbron: - From 27 April to 27 September it locks on demand from 07:00 to 23:30. - Going up into Mälaren is free; the other direction is charged, card payment only. - Clearance for masts is 11.4 m, so check a sailing boat's air draught first.
