Saltsjöbaden and Baggensfjärden

Saltsjöbaden was built as a seaside resort from 1891, when K.A. Wallenberg developed the area, and the Grand Hôtel and the Saltsjöbanan railway to Slussen both opened in 1893. Boats still set the tone. In Hotellviken, KSSS, founded in 1830 and Sweden's oldest yacht club, runs a marina with 400 seasonal berths and 35 guest moorings on Restaurangholmen, with the Grand Hôtel at the head of the bay.

The boats listed for Saltsjöbaden are private boats from the southern side of Stockholm's inner archipelago: some here, others at Lännersta, Tyresö, Ingarö, Dalarö and in Stockholm. Traditional open snipor and fast RIBs share the list with cruisers and sailing yachts.

Baggensfjärden, in front of the town, is KSSS's racing area, so you will share it with regatta fleets as well as plenty of other leisure boats. Inside the bays keep to 5 knots, which covers Neglingeviken, Pålnäsviken, Hotellviken and Svartviken. Through Baggensstäket towards the city it is 5 knots again, and Farstasundet towards Farstaviken is 7 knots.

South-east, the southern archipelago opens towards Dalarö, and our Dalarö and southern archipelago guide sets out five routes from there.
