Around Lidingö by boat

Lidingö, a municipality made up of islands, lies north-east of central Stockholm, separated from the mainland by Lilla Värtan, the strait crossed by the two Lidingö bridges. The boats listed for Lidingö are private boats moored around the inner archipelago: many in Stockholm itself, others in Täby, Åkersberga, Nacka, Lännersta, Saltsjöbaden and on Lidingö. The owner tells you where to board.

A lap of the island is the obvious outing. Fjäderholmarna belongs to Lidingö but lies about 1 km east of Djurgården, inside the Royal National City Park, and has a guest harbour with fuel, a smokehouse, a brewery and restaurants. On the north side, Lilla Värtan opens into Stora Värtan. Our guide to Stockholm by boat covers the city end of the lap.

Speed rules to know: - 5 knots in Södergarnsviken, Kyrkviken, the sound between Stickling udde and Ekholmen, and between Stora Fjäderholmen and Ängsholmen. - 7 knots in western Hustegafjärden. - The 8-knot limit in Lilla Värtan applies to ships of at least 12 × 4 m, not to small boats. - No motorboats within 100 m of Käppalabadet from 1 June to 31 August.

For a night away, the municipality lists guest places at Bosö båtklubb, Käppala båtsällskap, Gåshaga and Fjäderholmarna. Motorboats are banned all year in Gråviken and on Ekholmsnässjön.
