Åkersberga, Tunaviken and Åkers kanal
Åkersberga, the main town of Österåker, reaches the sea at Tunaviken, a bay of Trälhavet. A day boat and a large motor cruiser that can be booked with a captain are moored in Åkersberga itself. The other boats are spread around the inner archipelago: a daycruiser at Velamsund, a sailing yacht on Lidingö, and a small daycruiser and sailing yachts in Stockholm, the biggest of them a classic yacht that sails with a skipper.
Åkers kanal links Tunaviken with Garnsviken. It is what remains of Långhundraleden, the waterway the Vikings used between the Baltic and Uppsala, and its lock works in the summer half of the year, booked through the lock keeper. With 2.1 m of depth and 2–3 m of clearance, it suits small motorboats rather than sailing yachts. Guest berths are few: about five by the industrial bridge at Sågvägen, free for up to 24 hours, and about eight at the Solbrännan pier next to Österskär's beach.
On Trälhavet the Furusund and Sandhamn shipping lanes to Stockholm meet, so watch for large ships. To the north-east lie Ljusterö, one of the largest islands of the middle archipelago, and the World War I fort on Kyrkogårdsön, open to visitors in summer.
