Trogir is one of the busiest charter bases in Croatia and one of the easiest to reach: Split Airport is only about 6 km away, so you can land and be on board the same afternoon. The UNESCO-listed old town sits on a small island between the mainland and Čiovo, and from ACI Marina Trogir, SCT Marina Trogir and Marina Baotić in neighbouring Seget Donji you are a short sail from Šolta, Brač, Hvar and Vis. Sailboats, catamarans and yachts are available for bareboat charter or with a skipper.

Sailing from Trogir: islands and routes
The islands of central Dalmatia lie close together, and the channels between them are fairly sheltered, which makes Trogir a good base for a first bareboat week.
A week from Trogir
A typical week heads south to the bays of Šolta, on to Hvar town and the Pakleni Islands, out to Vis, and back along the south coast of Brač. With more time, Korčula and Lastovo are within reach.
The Blue Lagoon and the Drvenik islands
West of Čiovo, the Blue Lagoon between Drvenik Veli and the islet of Krknjaši is a sheltered swimming stop with turquoise water. It gets busy in high season, so arrive early in the day.
Wind and season
In summer the maestral builds from the north-west most afternoons, giving good sailing between the islands. The bora and the jugo can bring strong wind at any time of year, so check the forecast every morning. Saturdays are busy in the marinas; May, June and September are quieter and cheaper than July and August.
Choosing a boat
Trogir has a large fleet of sailboats, yachts and catamarans. For more boats nearby, see boat rental in Split, or head north to Šibenik for the Kornati islands.
Picking up a boat in Trogir
Charter boats in Trogir change hands in four places. ACI Marina Trogir lies on Čiovo, separated from the old town by a narrow canal, and is open all year with fuel on site. SCT Marina Trogir is close by, Marina Baotić sits in a sheltered bay at Seget Donji just west of town, and the town quay is used mainly by large crewed motor yachts.
The fleet leans towards catamarans, together with sailing yachts and a range of motor boats.
Before you cast off: the bridge between the old town and Čiovo has only 2.80 m clearance, so a yacht with a mast must leave the canal to the west. The ACI marina listens on VHF channel 17.
Out of the canal, the nearest islands are the two Drvenik islands, where Drvenik Veliki belongs to the town of Trogir itself, and Šolta to the south, with the harbour of Maslinica on its west coast. Longer passages lead out to Vis, and our Trogir, Šolta, Vis and Blue Cave guide covers that route. Leave an evening for Trogir too: its old town is on the UNESCO World Heritage List and is described as the best-preserved Romanesque-Gothic town in Central Europe.
