Where do Zadar charters start?
This page lists the boats in Zadar and in Sukošan, 12 km south. D-Marin Dalmacija in Sukošan is one of the largest marinas on the Adriatic and holds most of the fleet. Marina Zadar lies next to the old town, and D-Marin Borik is on the northern edge of the city. Check the base on each boat's page before you plan the drive. Just south, Biograd na Moru is the other big base of the area.
Sailing from Zadar
The Zadar archipelago starts right outside the harbour: Ugljan and Pašman across the channel, then Iž, Molat, Silba and Olib to the north-west. Dugi Otok and the Telašćica nature park are a comfortable first-day sail, and from there the Kornati National Park opens up to the south. Kornati and Telašćica charge an entry fee per boat; buy the ticket online or at the park before you sail in.
Bareboat or with a skipper?
Most boats here are sailboats rented by the week, Saturday to Saturday. For bareboat charter the skipper needs a recognised licence, and in Croatia someone on board must also hold a VHF radio certificate. Without them, book a boat with a skipper. More bases along the coast: Murter, Šibenik, Trogir and all of Croatia.
Charter bases around Zadar
Most yachts on this page are not in Zadar itself but about 20 minutes south, at D-Marin Dalmacija in Sukošan. With more than 1,000 berths it calls itself the largest marina on the Adriatic coast, and on a Saturday it is where most crews collect their boat. A smaller group is berthed at Marina Zadar, next to the old town.
Sailing yachts make up the bulk of the fleet, joined by catamarans and a few crewed motor yachts, so this is above all a base for sailing weeks.
Where the islands are: - Ugljan, the first island of the Zadar archipelago, just across the Zadar Channel and linked to Pašman by the Ždrelac bridge. - Dugi Otok and Telašćica Nature Park, a bay about 10 km long with cliffs rising to 161 m and the salt lake Mir. - Kornati National Park, further south-east.
Check the park rules before you set off: entering Kornati by boat needs a ticket, sold online through the park's shop or at the park office in Murter. Our Zadar archipelago and Telašćica itinerary lays out a full week through these islands.
