Do I need a boat licence in Croatia?
Yes. In Croatia you need a recognised boat licence, such as an ICC valid for coastal waters, to drive any rented motorboat or skipper a bareboat yacht, and bareboat charter also needs a VHF radio certificate (SRC). With a skipper or a crewed yacht you need no licence. Read our full licence guide.

Renting a boat in Brbinj on Dugi Otok
Brbinj is a village in the bay of the same name on the north-east coast of Dugi Otok, the largest and westernmost of the Zadar islands, about 12 km from Božava. Pine woods and olive groves surround it, and the island itself is 44.5 km long but only a few kilometres wide.
A 28 ft motor cruiser for four, with two cabins, is based in Brbinj and chartered by the week, Saturday to Saturday.
The bay is also the island's ferry port, with a daily car ferry from Zadar, so keep the ferry quay clear. The northern part of the bay is sheltered from all winds, while the outer part is exposed to the bura. From here, the white-sand bay of Sakarun and the harbour of Božava lie to the north-west and Telašćica Nature Park at the island's southern end; our Zadar archipelago itinerary covers both.
