Göteborg: river berths and the southern archipelago
The boats listed for Göteborg are private owners' boats scattered across the city. An owner names Saltholmen as home port, and another a berth in Sannegårdshamnen, a former cargo harbour on the Hisingen bank of the Göta älv, between Lindholmen and Eriksberg, that is now a marina. Sailing yachts dominate, many rented by the week and several with the owner as skipper, alongside a few day cruisers and a RIB.
Saltholmen is the gateway to the southern archipelago. The peninsula has more than 1,000 boat berths and is where the ferries leave for the islands. Brännö, Styrsö, Donsö and Vrångö are all car-free, and on Köpstadsö even mopeds are banned. Vargö, a little further out, has been a nature reserve since 1986. Starting from the river means slow going. The limit is 8 knots from the river mouth up to Lindholmen and 5 knots further upstream through the centre, and Saltholmen's outer harbour is a 3-knot zone. From Sannegårdshamnen, sailing boats pass the Sannegårdsbron footbridge through a small opening span.
