Almost every charter boat in Biograd sails from Marina Kornati, beside the old town, with shops, restaurants and the beach a short walk away. Zadar airport is about 30 minutes by car. A few more yachts lie in the small Marina Šangulin. For a larger choice, look at Zadar and Sukošan 25 km north, or Murter to the south.
Sailing to the Kornati
Biograd is the natural start for the Kornati. Cross the Pašman channel and you are among the islands in a few hours; the Telašćica nature park on Dugi Otok is close by, and the bays of Žut and Sit lie between them. The national park and Telašćica charge an entry fee per boat. Inland, Lake Vrana is Croatia's largest natural lake, a nature park for a day off the water.
Bareboat or with a skipper?
Most boats here are sailboats of 29 to 52 feet, rented by the week from Saturday. For bareboat charter the skipper needs a recognised licence, and someone on board a VHF radio certificate; otherwise, book a skipper. See also Šibenik and all charter bases in Croatia.
Charter bases in Biograd na Moru
Almost all the yachts on this page sail from Marina Kornati, on the western side of Biograd's seafront. Its story explains the town's reputation: the first nautical harbour in Croatia opened here in 1974, and the marina was extended in 1985 with another 450 berths. The local tourist board puts the total today at 750 berths across 15 piers. A second base, Marina Šangulin, has around 200 berths. Call Marina Kornati on VHF channel 17.
Mostly these are sailing yachts for weekly charter, together with a sizeable group of motorboats.
Biograd looks straight across the channel to the island of Pašman, an easy first hop. Beyond it lie Žut and the Kornati, an archipelago of more than 150 islands, islets and rocks, most of it inside Kornati National Park. Every boat entering the park needs a ticket, which can be bought online from the park or via partner platforms such as mySea, and anchoring is allowed only in designated places. Telašćica Nature Park on Dugi Otok, next to the Kornati, is a separate protected area.
