Every boat listed for Pirovac is berthed in Marina Pirovac, set in the heart of the old village at Pirovac bay. The marina calls the bay protected from the wind and has 200 sea berths, each with water and power, laid out along two floating breakwaters, three floating piers and a quay. The list is dominated by mid-sized to large sailing yachts, all chartered by the week, together with a catamaran and a few motor yachts.
The first thing you pass on the way out is Sveti Stjepan, the islet in front of the village. Roman remains have been found there, and the ruins of a Franciscan monastery from 1511, abandoned in 1807, still stand. Mind your draught at the pontoons: the marina gives depths of 1.5 m to 5.4 m, and it answers on VHF channel 9. Behind the village, on land, lies Vransko jezero, Croatia's largest lake, a nature park built around a bird reserve.
