Renting a boat in Rørvik on Øymarksjøen
This Rørvik is not the coastal town in Trøndelag but a hamlet in Marker, the eastern Østfold municipality on the Swedish border, on the east side of Øymarksjøen. A cabin cruiser is listed here, set up for water-skiing, wakeboarding and towing tubes, with room for up to seven.
Øymarksjøen is a long, narrow lake, called Lifjorden in the north and Bøensfjorden in the south, and is known for its pike. It is part of the Halden Canal. In the north it is fed from Rødenessjøen through the hand-operated Ørje locks, which lift boats 10 m and were completed in 1860, and in the south it drains towards Aremarksjøen.
Check before planning a canal trip: the main route allows a mast height of no more than 5.7 m, and since 2005 traffic through the Ørje locks has been restricted to limit the spread of crayfish plague.
