Renting a boat in Rong: guided fishing trips in Øygarden

Rong is a village on the island of Rongøy in Øygarden, about 35 km north-west of Bergen, among the bridged islands on the outer side of Hjeltefjorden.

The boat listed here, a 19 ft pilothouse boat, is placed near Blomvåg, about 2 km north of Rong. It is not a self-drive rental: the owner comes along as captain and fishing guide and knows the local fishing spots, so book it as a guided trip. The owner can also help with transfers between the airport and your hotel.

Blomvåg is known for a much-debated find: bones of whale, seal, reindeer, seabirds and fish, possibly the remains of meals from around 10,500 BC. If people left them, they are among the oldest traces of humans in Norway, but experts disagree. A few kilometres to the north-west lies the Kollsnes gas terminal.
