Hetlevik: Askøy's west shore on Hjeltefjorden
This Hetlevik is the village on the west side of Askøy, just north of Follese, not the area of the same name in Bergen's Laksevåg. Follese itself is about 4 km west of Kleppestø, the island's centre, so you are only a short drive from the Askøy Bridge and the city.
Some listings are in Hetlevik itself. The rest belong to private owners around the island and across the water: Florvåg and elsewhere on Askøy, Hordvik and Frekhaug to the north-east, Rong and other parts of Øygarden to the west, and central Bergen. You will find small open boats and a RIB, family cabin cruisers, a few sailboats, and skippered trips from some owners.
The water off the village is Hjeltefjorden, a 46 km fjord running from Fedje in the north down to Byfjorden, with Øygarden and Sotra forming its western side. As one of the main shipping lanes into Bergen it carries large vessels, so keep a steady lookout when you cross it.
