Eikangervåg on the Osterfjorden
Eikangervåg is a village in Alver on the east side of the Lindås peninsula, facing Osterfjorden, about 12 km north-east of Knarvik and some 30 km by sea from central Bergen. Nothing is listed in the village itself, so expect to drive to your boat: the nearest owners are elsewhere in the municipality and at Frekhaug, and the rest are on the Bergen side, at Hordvik and in the city. The choice runs from small open and pilothouse boats to a cabin cruiser, a bowrider and sailing yachts.
Osterfjorden is 27 km long, 1–3 km wide and up to 639 m deep. It runs between Lindås and Osterøy from Knarvik in the south-west to Hokøy in the north-east, where it continues as Romarheimsfjorden and then Mofjorden towards Modalen. Our Bergen day-trip guide includes a route up this fjord.
Heading for Bergen, you pass the Nordhordland Bridge between Flatøy and Hordvik. The shipping lane runs under its cable-stayed span; the remaining 1,243 m is a floating bridge anchored only at the shore.
