Slependen straddles the Asker–Bærum border north-west of Sandvika, stretching west along the E18 towards Billingstad. It is mostly housing and retail, yet it has a boat harbour: a boat on this page is berthed at Gyssestad Båtforening, a boat club, and other listed boats lie a few minutes away in Sandvika and at Høvik.
The classic first trip is to Middagsbukta, the local name for Langårsundet. This sound runs along the east side of Brønnøya, sheltered from the south-east by the long, narrow island of Langåra, and it gets lively on Midsummer Eve.
