Sandvika: guest pier, Kalvøya and the islands
Sandvika, Bærum's administrative centre, lies at the innermost end of the Vestfjorden, about 15 km south-west of central Oslo. The boats on this page that are kept in town lie at Lakseberget and on a central berth nearby; others are a short way off at Høvik, at Slependen and in Oslo.
Kalvøya sits right outside the town, linked to it by a bridge. It is one of Bærum's most popular places to swim, with sandy coves on its west and south sides and a bathing raft with a diving board. Beyond it lie Borøya, most of it a nature reserve since 2008, and Ostøya, and further west Brønnøya with the sheltered sound known as Middagsbukta. For a night away, see guest harbours further down the fjord.
If you come back into town by boat, the municipal Sandvika gjestebrygge runs from Kalvøybroen to Rigmorbrygga. It is open from the last Friday before Easter to 15 October, the maximum stay is two days, and quiet hours run from 23:00 to 09:00. Refuelling while moored at the guest pier is not allowed, so fill up before you tie up.
