Høvik, once an industrial community built around the Høvik glassworks, is now a residential district of Bærum on the inner Oslofjord. Unlike many places nearby, it has rental boats of its own: listed boats are based at Strand and on a berth near Oksenøya Marina, where you can refuel before handing the boat back.
Høvikodden, the point below the district, is the natural starting line. Offshore lie Ostøya and Borøya, Snarøya and the Fornebu peninsula are to the south-east, and Kalvøya off Sandvika is a short run up the fjord. Our overview of public jetties and landing places shows where you can tie up.
Leaving Høvikodden, you are inside one of Bærum's larger 5-knot areas. The regulation draws its boundary from Saraholmen to Høvikodden and round to Store Ostsund, and a second area covers Snarøysundet, Torvøya and Kjeholmen.
