Kråkerøy, the island across from Fredrikstad
Kråkerøy is a 20 km² island facing Fredrikstad's city centre, with the Glomma splitting around it into the Østerelva and the Vesterelva. It was a municipality until 1994 and is now the largest community in Fredrikstad by population. Four bridges link it to the city and to Kjøkøy in the south-east. The small island of Isegran, off its north-east side, is where Fredrikstad's first documented settlement stood.
