Åros on the Hurum shore
Åros is a village on the Hurum peninsula in Asker, part of Røyken until 2020. It sits where the Åros river runs into the inner Oslofjord, between the hamlet of Båtstø to the north and Sætre to the south, and statistics now count it as part of Sætre. By road it is about 40 km from central Oslo.
The nearest listing is a cabin cruiser with skipper at Sætre, just down the coast. Across the fjord, owners in Drøbak, Frogn and Fagerstrand on Nesodden offer cabin cruisers, day cruisers and a bowrider. Further north there are boats at Slemmestad, Vettre and Asker, and to the south in Svelvik and Drammen, including RIBs, pilothouse boats and sailboats.
Åros faces the narrowest part of the fjord. A little to the south, Drøbaksundet is where the inner Oslofjord ends, and in the middle of the sound stands Oscarsborg Fortress on the Kaholmen islets, famous for sinking the German cruiser Blücher in April 1940 and now open to the public with a museum, hotel and restaurants. Drøbak's guest harbour is on the opposite shore; see our guide to guest harbours in the Oslofjord.
Leave the rods at home. Since 1 January 2026 all fishing, recreational included, has been banned all year in the Oslofjord north of a line between Horten and Moss, and cod fishing is banned in the whole Oslofjord.
