Nærsnes: boats on the Vestfjorden shore
Nærsnes is a headland in Asker, south of Slemmestad, pointing north into Vestfjorden in the inner Oslofjord. Nærsnesbukta on its north-west side has small-boat harbours on both sides of the bay, guest docks at Nærsnes båthavn and two slipways, and the bay between Morbergholmen and Nærsnestangen is a 5-knot zone.
The boats listed here come from a wide stretch of the fjord: Slemmestad and Asker close by, Sætre and Svelvik to the south, Drøbak and Nesodden across the water, and Oslo to the north. Expect daycruisers, small sailboats, RIBs and a few larger motor cruisers, all owned privately.
South-east lies Håøya, 5.2 km² of forest and bays north-west of Drøbak and Oscarsborg, bigger than any other island inside the Drøbak narrows. Sagbukta, Tåjebukta and Dragsundet are its popular anchorages. Sørøya, at the island's southern end, is a nature reserve where access is restricted because of nesting sea eagles, and part of Håøya is still Defence Ministry land. Closer to home, Ramtonholmen is about 2 km south of Nærsnes.
For an overnight trip to Drøbak, Son or further down the fjord, see our overview of guest harbours in the Oslofjord. Back home, remember that Asker's shoreline is a slow zone: nothing above 5 knots inside 200 m of land.
