Turku: from Hirvensalo or Parainen onto Airisto

The boats on this page are not on the Aura river in the centre but further out, closer to the islands. A day cruiser for six lies at a marina on Hirvensalo, an island that belongs to the city of Turku, from where its owner says Airisto and the archipelago are easy to reach. In the centre of Parainen (Pargas) a 6.3 m aluminium boat with a 200 hp outboard and seats for eight is berthed for the whole open-water season. Its owner expects solid experience or can skipper it.

Airisto is the open water between them. From Turku to the Parainen guest harbour across it is about 14 nautical miles, and Kirkkosalmi at Parainen has a 10 km/h limit. Look behind you before crossing the fairway: the Stockholm ferries and the cargo ships for Turku and Naantali use it. Our Turku archipelago guide continues to Nauvo, Seili and Korppoo.
