Renting a boat for Naantali: from Hirvensalo to the Old Town
Naantali lies 14 km west of Turku and grew up around a medieval Brigittine convent, whose church still dominates the skyline. Most of its land is on islands, including Luonnonmaa, where Kultaranta, the President's summer residence, faces the fairway.
The boats shown here are not kept in Naantali. A day cruiser for six is based at a marina on Hirvensalo in Turku, which its owner calls a handy start for Airisto and the outer islands; it has rod holders, a side-scan echo sounder and a ski arch.
By water you arrive at Naantali guest harbour in the heart of the Old Town, with 180 guest berths and 7 m of water. If you come in under the Särkänsalmi bridge, the clearance is 16.5 m. Beside the harbour is Kailo, the island of Moominworld, and the tourist board suggests families anchor north of the quiet Kailo pier. Fuel and septic pump-out are available around the clock. Keep to the fairway past Kultaranta; the route is in our Turku archipelago guide.
