Sundlandet, on the mainland shore of Trondheimsleia
Sundlandet belongs to Hitra, but it is not on Hitra island. In 2020 the municipality took over Sunde and the surrounding mainland shore from the old Snillfjord municipality, and Sundlandet lies on this side. It faces the island across Trondheimsleia, the sound between Hitra and the mainland. The Hitra tunnel under it reaches 264 m below the sea.
The boats here are set up for fishing. Near the small-boat harbour at Vingvågen is a 28 ft pilothouse boat for up to six with a 370 hp engine, rented with a skipper who takes you to the fishing grounds. Further east at Kongensvollen, near Åsøya, is a solid aluminium boat with rod holders, an echo sounder and a bow thruster. On request it comes with a net hauler and a fishing reel, and its owner asks you to say what you want to use it for, and where.
