Charlottenlund on the Strindfjord
Charlottenlund is a district of Trondheim about 5 km east of the centre, bounded to the north by the Strindfjord, the part of the Trondheimsfjord off the city's eastern shore. Nedre Charlottenlund, the lower part, follows the shore from Rotvoll to Grilstad. A fully equipped sailing boat on this page is kept at Grilstad. Another, a 10.5-foot inflatable for three adults, is kept in the city centre.
The short trip from here is Munkholmen, a 1.3-hectare island about 2 km off the centre. It has been an execution site, Norway's oldest known monastery and a fortress, and it is now a protected summer spot for swimming, with a café. The inflatable's owner suggests it as a destination. With the sailing boat you can go further up the fjord. Our Trondheimsfjord guide lists routes and anchorages.
