Sundbyfoss, inland from Holmestrand
Sundbyfoss is a village of about 550 people in Holmestrand municipality, about 3 km south-east of Hof. It lies west of Hillestadvannet, with the Sundbyelva river running north of the village. The lake is small and shallow, 1.57 km² with flat shores, and part of the Eikeren watercourse. It is not a place to take a rental boat.
The boats on this page are all on the fjord in Holmestrand, roughly 11 km east in a straight line. They are RIBs, a light open motorboat, a small classic sailing boat, and a larger yacht that sails only with its owner as skipper, for at least three days.
Two things apply once you reach the fjord. Holmestrand's rules set 3 knots in the harbour basin and 5 knots anywhere within 200 m of the shore, islands and skerries. And Holmestrand lies inside the Oslofjord zero-fishing zone north of the Horten–Moss line, where no fishing is allowed.
