What is Ship O’Hoi?
Selvik on the east shore of Sandebukta
Selvik is a village of about 3,500 people on the eastern side of Sandebukta, some 4 km south-east of Sande centre, in Holmestrand municipality. A boat on this page is kept here: a light, self-draining motorboat for family outings. The others are spread around the fjord, in Holmestrand town to the south, at Svelvik and in Drammen to the north-east, and across the water at Sætre and on the Hurum side of Asker.
The shore between Selvik and Holmestrand is a string of bathing spots. Kverntangen, right by Selvik, has smooth rocks, a small sandy beach and a toilet. Further south, Bjerkøya has a waymarked coastal path all the way round the island.
On the way south, slow to 3 knots in the stretch between the Bjørneskjær skerry and the breakwater at Bjerkøya. There is no point packing rods: the whole fjord north of a line from Horten to Moss, Selvik included, has been closed to every kind of fishing since the start of 2026.
