What is Ship O’Hoi?

Gullaug: an old factory point on the Drammensfjord

Gullaug takes its name from three farms on a point on the Lier side of the Drammensfjord. The point was long an explosives works, and since 2001 the housing area of Engersand Havn has grown up here with a harbour of its own.

Expect to collect your boat elsewhere: owners keep them in Svelvik and Drammen, in Asker, and in the Asker villages of Slemmestad, Vettre, Nesøya and Sætre.

Engersand and Gilhusodden are state-secured recreation areas on this shore and good swimming stops. Next door, Linnesstranda nature reserve protects the Lierelva delta wetland, and all motorised traffic is banned inside it.

The Gullaug farms once relied on the fjord's fish, but since 1 January 2026 the Drammensfjord has been part of the Oslofjord zero-fishing area. Lier also caps leisure boats at 5 knots anywhere closer than 200 m to the shore.
