Lier, between the Drammensfjord and Holsfjorden
Lier runs up Lierdalen from the head of the Drammensfjord in the south to Holsfjorden, an arm of the lake Tyrifjorden, in the north, so the municipality has both salt water and fresh. On the fjord side, Lierstranda and Linnesstranda line the shore just east of Drammen, and Linnesstranda nature reserve borders the fjord by Gilhusodden.
No boat on this page is kept in Lier. Some are in Drammen, some of them up the river, and the rest are along the Asker shore at Slemmestad, Vettre, Nesøya and Sætre, at Svelvik, and in Sandvika, Slependen and Oslo.
The inner Drammensfjord behaves almost like a lake.
