What is Ship O’Hoi?
Tofte, at the southern end of Hurum
Tofte is the village at the southern end of the Hurum peninsula in Asker, a cellulose-mill town from 1897 to 2013. The harbour of Tofte Båtforening, a club dating from 1921, faces Breiangen and the wider Oslofjord, and it has guest berths along the breakwater. It is shallow, though, and the club says it suits deep-keeled boats such as sailing yachts poorly.
Pickup is across the water or up the fjord: Holmestrand on the far side of Breiangen, Moss, Horten, Svelvik, Drøbak and Asker.
Skjøttelvik, between Rødtangen and Tofte, is easiest to reach by boat or the coastal path, and Ertsvika can also be reached from the water. Rødtangen has a shallow family beach and its own lighthouse. To the south, the Filtvet lighthouse from 1840 is a protected monument with a small museum.
Tofteholmen, off the village, is a nature reserve for seabirds and seals. Asker's near-shore limit is 5 knots inside 200 m.
