Renting a boat at Strandlykkja on southern Mjøsa

Strandlykkja is a small place on the east shore of Mjøsa in Stange, about 15 km north of Minnesund. When the new double-track railway past its closed station opened in December 2015, a breakwater for small boats and a service building were built on the old station site, next to the Mjøstråkk footpath. The beach at Meise is less than a kilometre away.

A light open boat in three-layer polyethylene is based here, with room for a family of four to five adults. Its owner describes it as good for trips and fishing, and light to tow on a trailer.

This end of the lake is open and wide, up to 14–15 km across, and the usual wind is from the south. If a fresh southerly is forecast, make any crossing early in the day. Harbours further up the lake are described in our Mjøsa trip planner.
