Eidsvoll, Minnesund and the south end of Mjøsa
Eidsvoll holds the southern tip of Mjøsa. At Minnesund the lake empties into the Vorma, which flows about 30 km south through Eidsvoll to join the Glomma. A day cruiser is based at Minnesund, and its owner can come along as skipper. Other boats are further up the east shore near Strandlykkja, in Stange: a small open boat and a boat rigged for trolling with four rods, two downriggers and two paravanes.
The paddle steamer Skibladner was assembled at Minnesund in 1856 to carry passengers from the railway at Eidsvoll to Hamar, Gjøvik and Lillehammer. For trips north towards Hamar and Helgøya, see our Lake Mjøsa guide.
If you book the trolling boat, its owner sums up the local rules: trolling on Mjøsa is allowed from 1 May to 31 August and from 1 October to 31 December, with no more than four lures per boat, and any trout under 50 cm goes back alive.
