Stord: boats on the islands either side

Stord is an island in Sunnhordland shared by two municipalities: Stord in the south, with the town of Leirvik, and Fitjar in the north. None of the listed boats is kept on the island itself. A small console boat with an echo sounder is on Tysnesøya, at Uggdalseidet across the Langenuen sound. To the west, at Nese on Bømlo, is a sturdy fishing boat with a 60 hp four-stroke, a chart plotter, rod holders and a bathing ladder, and its owner can arrange delivery by sea or by trailer.

By road, the Triangle Link has joined Stord, Bømlo and Sveio since 2001, with the Stord and Bømla suspension bridges and a 7.8 km subsea tunnel. It replaced four ferry routes.

Out on the water, Langenuen is the sound to watch. It separates Stord from Tysnes, and one of the busiest ferry crossings on the E39 uses its northern part, from Sandvikvåg in Fitjar to Halhjem. Keep clear of the ferries.
