Stathelle, across the strait from Brevik
Stathelle is Bamble's shopping town, on the west side of the point where the Langesundsfjord, the Frierfjord and the Eidangerfjord meet. Until Breviksbrua opened in 1962, traffic on the old southern main road crossed to Brevik by ferry, sometimes with queues kilometres long. In the 1800s the Kjellestad trading house and shipyards stood on this shore; the yard site is now a small-boat harbour and a park.
