Porsgrunn: from the river quay to the Langesundsfjord

In Porsgrunn you can collect a boat in town and be among islands the same day. Porsgrunn itself accounts for many of the listings; the others lie along the same waterway, upstream in Skien and towards the coast in Brevik, Stathelle and Herre, plus at Helgeroa in Larvik. They range from small open boats to roomy cabin cruisers, several of them skippered by their owners.

In the centre, the guest pier on Østre Brygge has pontoon berths with power and water, charging points for electric boats and free mooring by day. The nearest fuel is at Frednes bridge, the first bridge on the way up from the Frierfjord. Downstream, the river opens into the Frierfjord, and past Brevik lie the islands of Porsgrunn's archipelago: Sandøya with Dikkon beach, Bjørkøya, Håøya, Oksøya and Siktesøya. Under the joint speed rules for Porsgrunn, Skien and Bamble, the 100 m nearest any shore, islet or skerry is a 5-knot band outside the fairways, and the Herøya canal is limited to 3 knots; the whole Gunnekleivsfjord is a 5-knot zone. Water scooters may not be used for sport or play. Gas tankers and other large ships use the fjords into Grenland, so give them plenty of room.
