Risør's inner harbour and the fjords behind it
A boat is handed over in Risør's indre havn, the inner harbour, where its owner lets it by the day without meeting you in person. Other Risør listings lie a little outside the centre and at Søndeled at the head of its fjord. The remaining boats come from the Kragerø side, from Stabbestad, Sannidal and Kragerø itself, or from Tvedestrand to the south-west. Expect small open boats, landstedsbåter and RIBs, plus a cabin cruiser.
The town takes its name from the islet of Risøya just offshore, and Stangholmen lighthouse, first lit in 1855, stands at the harbour entrance. Two fjord systems open behind the town: Søndeledfjorden, which divides into Nordfjorden and Sørfjorden around the Barmen peninsula, and Sandnesfjorden further west, leading in towards Laget.
