Port de Pollença: yachts at the Reial Club Nàutic

All the yachts here are based at the Reial Club Nàutic Port de Pollença, the yacht club in Mallorca's most northerly town. They are mainly sailing monohulls from about 38 to 51 ft, joined by catamarans, and are typically chartered by the week.

The town lies on the Bay of Pollença, sheltered to the north by the Formentor peninsula. A 13.5 km road runs out to Cap de Formentor, Mallorca's northernmost point, where the lighthouse has stood since 1863, and by sea the peninsula's coves, Cala Figuera, Cala Murta and Cala Pi de la Posada, are close at hand. Behind the town, the Boquer valley runs north-east towards the coast. Our North Mallorca and Menorca week continues across the bay of Alcúdia and over to Ciutadella.

Two local points. Off Formentor, the regional port authority Ports IB runs a regulated buoy field, booked online, which replaced moorings on the posidonia seagrass, so pick up a buoy rather than anchoring on the meadows. And amphibious firefighting aircraft based at the air base north of the town are often on exercise around the bay, so keep a lookout overhead as well as ahead.
