Novi Vinodolski: yachts on the Vinodol coast
Marina Novi, in the town port, is home to almost the whole fleet. It offers 204 sea berths (maximum length 20 m), dry storage and a 40 t hoist for haul-outs, and in 2018 it was the only marina in Croatia rated five anchors. A large motor yacht is berthed instead at Mitan Marina in Muroskva bay, where a big breakwater carries a fuel berth for boats up to 60 m.
The typical boat is a sailing yacht of roughly 39 to 49 feet; there is also a catamaran and some motor yachts.
The local tourist board points boats towards Krk, with the harbours of Šilo and Vrbnik and the bays of Vela and Mala Luka, and further out to Rab and Cres. The wind to respect is the bura. It is strongest in Kvarner and the Velebit channel, especially near Senj, it can blow for days and is often stronger at night, and in the Velebit channel it can start suddenly on a clear, calm day. Check the forecast every morning before leaving harbour.
