Nordre Follo's Bunnefjord shore by boat
Nordre Follo was formed in 2020 from the old municipalities of Ski and Oppegård, and its only coastline is in the west, on the Bunnefjord. That stretch belongs to Svartskog, a thinly populated area between the lake Gjersjøen and the fjord. No boat on this page is moored in the municipality. The nearest are at Malmøya on the Oslo side and at Fagerstrand across the fjord on Nesodden; most of the others are in central Oslo.
Seen from the water, the Svartskog shore has three landmarks: - Ingierstrand bad, a seaside bath from the early 1930s with a diving tower, designed to follow the steep terrain - Strandskogen, a second public beach - Uranienborg, Roald Amundsen's home by the fjord, a museum since 1935
The Bunnefjord is much deeper here than at its entrance: about 150 m off Svartskog against a sill of around 60 m between Nesoddtangen and Bygdøy. A run down this fjord is one of our easy day trips from the capital.
Nordre Follo sets its own speed limit: 5 knots within 150 m of land, islets and skerries along the whole of its Bunnefjord coastline, a narrower band than the 200 m used by Oslo and Nesodden.
