Malmøya is an island of about 600 decares in the Bunnefjord, roughly 4 km south of central Oslo and directly west of Ulvøya. A cabin boat on this page is kept on the island itself. For the rest, the handover is usually a few kilometres north in the city: owners hand over at Aker Brygge, on Bygdøy, at Skøyen or out on Hovedøya.
From Malmøya the choice is north or south. Northwards, past Ormøya, lie the harbour islands Hovedøya, Lindøya and Nakholmen. Southwards, the Bunnefjord runs between the Nesodden peninsula and the Svartskog shore and gets deep, around 150 m off Svartskog. Two rules before you leave the jetty: - Closer than 200 m to any shore, islet or visible skerry, Oslo's limit is 5 knots; further out it is 25. With so many holms around Malmøya, much of the trip is slow. - The inner Oslofjord has been a no-fishing zone since 1 January 2026, so leave the rods at home.
