Langhus: an inland start for the Bunnefjord

Langhus sits in Nordre Follo 21 km from Oslo on the Østfold railway line, well away from the shore, so renting starts with a drive or train ride. Owners serving this area keep their boats round the inner fjord: in Drøbak and elsewhere in Frogn, at Fagerstrand and on Nesodden, at Svartskog, on Malmøya and in Oslo.

Don't plan on the lakes nearby. In Nordre Follo motorboats may not be used on lakes and rivers without the municipality's permission, and electric motors count the same as petrol and diesel. Gjersjøen, 2.6 km², is a drinking-water source; for a swim, Tussetjern has platforms on both the Langhus and Oppegård sides.

The nearest sea is the Bunnefjord below Svartskog, the strip of land that separates it from Gjersjøen. From a boat you can follow the Follo coastal path, over 80 km from Sjødalsstrand to Ljansbruket, with Svartskog brygge, Sandbukta and the Trolldalen nature reserve, where coastal forest runs down to the fjord, along the way. The Bunnefjord run, with times and distances, is in our collection of simple trips starting in Oslo.
