Møgedal, by the narrows at Jåsund
Møgedal is a farm area in Lindesnes, on the shore near Jåsund, where the 12 km Grønsfjorden narrows into a long sound and meets Lenefjorden. At Jåsund the water is only 3.5 m deep, against 172 m in the fjord off Hundingsland. Grønsfjorden is known for turning green at times, coloured by the alga Emiliania huxleyi.
No boats are listed at Møgedal itself; the boats shown are nearby. A small dinghy, which its owner suggests for the skerries or for fishing, is at Svennevik (listed as Svenevig) near Spangereid, and a sports boat elsewhere in Lindesnes goes out only with its owner as skipper.
From Jåsund, Lenefjorden runs 10.5 km north to Lene, with an arm reaching south to Spangereid. There a canal through the isthmus links it with Njervefjorden on the other side of the peninsula; excavations found that a canal crossed the same neck of land around the year 700.
