Mali Lošinj: motorboats for days around Lošinj

The boats listed for Mali Lošinj are small motorboats and a RIB, all kept at Marina Lošinj in the town, so this is a base for day trips rather than a sailing week. They range from a 5.3 m RIB and a compact sports boat to open and cabin boats of around 6.3 to 7.3 m.

The town sits in the most sheltered part of Lošinj bay, on the island's eastern side. In the 1860s it had eleven shipyards and the largest merchant fleet in the Adriatic, and a museum on the waterfront now shows the bronze Apoxyomenos, raised in 1999 from the seabed off the islet of Vele Orjule, south-east of Lošinj. Within a day's reach: - Čikat bay, about 1 km from the centre, with pine woods behind the shore. - Susak, 7.4 km south-west of Lošinj, an island made mostly of fine sand. - Ilovik, to the south, where a 2.5 km inlet between Ilovik and Sveti Petar is sheltered from most winds.

Our Kvarner sailing guide covers Cres, Krk and Rab further north. Keep an eye on the forecast: the bura, a cold north-easterly, can bring violent gusts, and the southerly jugo brings cloud and stormy weather.
