What is Ship O’Hoi?

Hole and the Røyse shore of Tyrifjorden

Tyrifjorden dominates Hole, together with the farmland of the Røyse peninsula and the conifer forest of Krokskogen. At 137 km² it is Norway's fifth-largest lake. Røyse juts into it along the east side of the Nordfjorden arm, with the island of Frognøya just off its southern tip.

A 16 ft bowrider for five with a 70 hp engine is kept on the Røyse shore near Fetjarvika. The owner suggests a day of sunbathing, swimming or watersports.

The lake is H-shaped, with four arms and 68 islands, holms and skerries, and its depths vary enormously. Holsfjorden reaches about 295 m, while the Steinsfjorden is no deeper than 22 m and has only 2.5 m of water under the Kroksund bridge, so go slowly there. The water level is regulated and normally lies 62 to 63 m above sea level.
