Hosle, in eastern Bærum, is home to about 5,000 people and is better known for its sports clubs than for boats. It lies inland, and the nearest salt water is the Lysakerfjord, roughly 3 km to the south. Boats on this page are picked up on the coast: mainly in Oslo at Skøyen, Aker Brygge and on Bygdøy, or on the Bærum side at Strand and Høvik. Once afloat, the inner Oslofjord islands are within easy reach from either side. Before planning to go ashore, check where the public jetties are; Nakholmen and Lindøya, for example, are densely built with summer cabins.
