Renting a boat in Gusum, on lake Yxningen
Gusum is a village in Valdemarsvik municipality in Östergötland, between lake Yxningen and the Sankt Anna archipelago. It grew up around a brass works from the 1600s, later known for its pins and needles and, from 1931, for zips.
The boat listed here, a day cruiser for up to six with a 40 hp engine, is placed on the Gusum shore of Yxningen; ask the owner where you board.
Yxningen is a freshwater lake of 28.6 km², about 30 km long from Yxnerum to Fallingeberg and up to 74 m deep, the fourth-deepest lake in Götaland. Some 90 islands form an inland archipelago. From the late 1800s steamers such as S/S Yxningen ran on the lake, and the bathing place in Gusum was once their loading quay. The lake also supplies drinking water to Gusum, Ringarum and Valdemarsvik.
