Renting a boat in Mysingö: Oskarshamn's archipelago and Blå Jungfrun

Mysingö, also spelled Mysingsö, lies about 4 km south-east of central Oskarshamn on the Kalmar Sound coast and has grown together with the town. Offshore spreads the Oskarshamn archipelago, some 5,400 islands, mostly of granite bedrock, which makes Oskarshamn the fourth most island-rich municipality in Sweden.

A small open console boat is based here, with a chartplotter, echo sounder and a ski pole for towing.

On the horizon is Blå Jungfrun, a granite island in the middle of northern Kalmar Sound and a national park since 1926; the tour boat from Oskarshamn takes about an hour and a half. The island is exposed: there are no jetties, you land directly on the rocks, and the Gotland ferry can send wake of up to two metres onto the shore. The park advises calling its guides before arriving by your own boat; go only on a settled day.
