Renting a boat in Oxelösund: into the Sörmland archipelago
Oxelösund sits at the head of a peninsula less than 15 km south of Nyköping, and 85% of the municipality's border runs along the sea. A motorsailer is listed here, kept at Sunda in Oxelösund.
The town has two guest harbours: Oxelösunds gästhamn in Badhusviken, where a fuel station opens in summer, and Femöre Marina at Fiskehamnen on Femöre. Out in the archipelago, Beten has a jetty on its north side and a sandy swimming bay on the south, but nothing to buy, so bring food. Fågelskär nature reserve, about 3 km out, has a jetty in its eastern bay. On the outermost island, Hävringe, a 22 m daymark from the 1750s still stands, and there are guest berths in the harbour.
Oxelösund is a working port. Furön lies on the far side of the shipping fairway from Gamla Oxelösund, so look out for large ships when you cross.
